I haven't been here for a while. But I do remember a good Filipino food place, and if there is one, this is the place! The chef here works magic! And all the food he cooks are always spot on! The place is not that big, but it is nicely adorned with Filipino decor. Makes it feel like home. The menu covers most of the food that Filipinos crave. So the choice is quite expansive. And you're sure it will be great tasting. At a price that is very reasonable for the quantity of the food served. I was a regular here pre-pandemic times. I know they were, they are and they will be a place for good quality food. Note to self: visit when I'm in the San Leandro/Castro Valley area...

It was my first time trying at this small restaurant in Castro Valley. We shared two plates, Pancit & Fried chicken and Adobo mix. Fried chicken was very crispy and tasty. Also Adobo chicken and pork were tasty and meat were soft. I wish pancit noodles were less greasy. Each plate was about $14. Overall they were good.

This is the closest place to the tri-valley to get fili food from. I came in and placed an order to go. I like that they have meals available all day, instead of just a mains and sides setup. Good for solo people wanting to order more than one ulam. I ordered the bicol express meal and adobo meal. The meals come with steamed rice and 2 pcs of lumpia. I really like their lumpia sauce because I usually enjoy dipping my lumpia in vinegar instead of the standard lumpia sauce, and their lumpia sauce tastes like a mix of vinegar and sweet & sour sauce. The adobo meal came with a sort of cabbage salad I think it was. I originally thought it was odd, but it actually worked well having it as a side. Like a nice fresh respite. I had the bicol express meal the next day. It didn't look like your typical bicol express. Like it was more of a brownish sauce instead of pink and pork was sliced differently, so I thought oh gawd they made there own rendition of this, and I was setting myself up for disappointment - but it was good! it tasted like bicol express.

First off, the service was amazing. They welcomed us right when we came in and made us feel very comfortable. The recommendation were spot on and just what we were looking for. Let's talk about the food! It was soooo tasty! And the portions were a really good value - enough for us to take home and enjoy again. Recommend the pancit combo #1 and get the beef soup! Can't wait to come back again!

I stayed at my friend's house in Castro Valley on a recent trip to the East Bay. We were with another friend discussing what to have for dinner. Although they are both Chinese, they were married to Filipinas in the past. They are fond of the cuisine, but don't get the chance to enjoy it often. Dampa is nearby, and its casual ambiance fit the bill bc it was a hot summer night. We ordered lumpia, pork skewers, bihon, lechon kawali, kare kare, pinakbet and garlic rice. Although we ordered too much food, two of us still had room for halo halo for dessert. All of the food was very good. I esp liked the kare kare bc I rarely eat it: Mija is allergic to peanuts. The lechon was tender & crispy, and the pinakbet had fresh veggies. The halo halo was massive, but could have been improved w/ some leche flan: What can I say? I'm a pig. Hahaha. The service was super friendly & warm. Our waitress warned us it would take about 25 min for food to arrive bc of the big order. The chef beat our expectations and the lumpia arrived first, and quickly as it should. After that it was a feeding frenzy. I was so full and satisfied afterwards. I plan on visiting my college friends at least once a year. Its much easier for me to fly from So CA vs the six of them doing the opposite. I hope my friend in CV offers to have me stay at his house again. I would definitely return to Dampa for some good, hearty food and mabuhay.
